Our Chapels
Noble Chapel
When Cypress Lawn was created in 1892, one of the first structures built on the site was a chapel designed by architect Thomas Paterson Ross. This chapel was patterned after St. Giles Church in Stoke Poges, England, the site where Thomas Gray wrote his famous 1751 poem “Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard.” Later named after Cypress Lawn’s founder, Hamden Holmes Noble.

Newall Chapel
Built in 1893 it survived the 1906 Great Earthquake. However, it did not survive the 1957 temblor. In the late 1950’s it was destroyed and replaced by a modern-designed Newall Chapel.
